Emergency Artworks comments on the news of a particularly day.
The Emergency Room, is a room in an art institution, in wich artists install new work in response to the events of the last 24 hours. The artwork stay on view until the next morning when they are moved to an adjacent archive space and replaced by new work.
The Night Shift, is a platform in public space. The Night Shift shows every day a new artwork that comments on the daily news.
Frank Franzen introduced The Emergency Room in cooperation with Thierry Geoffroy/Colonel in April 2006 in Nikolaj Exhibition Hall, Copenhagen, Denmark.
Since then Emergency Artworks have been shown in Emergency Rooms at: Olaf Stüber Gallery/Berlin, PS1 MoMA/New York, Ileana Tounta Contemporary Art Center/Athens and Taïs Galerie/Paris.
The first Night Shift started in Stockholm, June 2008, in cooperation between Raketa and Frank Franzen.
